BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Kampong Ayer and Bandar Seri Begawan are one of the national heritages that should be preserved and introduced to the world. Currently, travel agencies are actively promoting holiday packages on Kampong Ayer and Bandar Seri Begawan. The "Bandar Seri Begawan and Kampong Ayer, the National Heritage" holiday package was launched this afternoon at the Royal Wharf Art Gallery in the capital.
The holiday package was officially launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Ssetia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The package consists of 8 holiday packages which is the continuation of the Temburong Holiday Package which was launched on the 1st of September last year by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Tourism Development Department in the effort to strengthen the primary tourism products in the country.
The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism then proceeded to officiate the Tourist Information Centre. The centre aims to assist tourists who are visiting the country to gain information on the attractive locations as well as the facilities that can be found in Brunei Darussalam.
At the event, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also launched the Jejak Warisan which is a project of the Museums Department to preserve and raise the general public's awareness on the historical sites and buildings in the capital, mandated under the Ancient Artefacts and Treasures Act.
Apart from the "Bandar Seri Begawan and Kampong Ayer, the National Heritage" holiday package, the exhibition was also launched by the Minister of Home Affairs. The sales and exhibition involves the Kampung Consultative Councils, travel agents and tourism entrepreneurs where they focused on selling the holiday packages. The sales and exhibition is open to the public today and tomorrow from 7.30 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.
The "Bandar Seri Begawan: the ASEAN City of Culture" exhibition showcases arts and cultural activities that can be found in the capital as well as drawings produced by local artists from Rainforest Gallery and artists from China during their visit to the Temburong District last November.
The event was further enlivened with a river cruise along the Brunei River using the MV Sentosa cruise ship. Also joining was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communication. The MV Sentosa Cruise ship offers cruises along the Brunei to enjoy the view of Kampong Ayer. With the new package, it can strengthen existing holiday packages apart from making it more attractive, safe and comfortable for visitors.
