66 Ex-SMB Students Feted for Outstanding Academic Achievements

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

 

A total of 66 former students of the Berakas Secondary School (SMB) were presented with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding achievements in their BCGCE and IGCSE 'O' Level last year.

 

The awarding ceremony took place at the school's Anggerek Hall.

 

The guest of honour was the Director of the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA), Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kancanawati binti Haji Tajuddin. Also present were the Principal of SMB, Awang Abdullah bin Ismail; and representative of Head of Cluster 3 Awang Sabri bin Haji Salleh; teachers, students and parents as well as guardians of the award recipients.

 

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the verses of the Al-Quran followed with a welcoming remark from the school's principal.

 

In his remark, the principal said that the results reflect an improvement in the achievement of its students every year since 2012.

 

He also touched on the efforts, support and guidance from the teachers, parents and guardians towards motivating their children towards excellence.

 

Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kancanawati, in her speech, said that their success is another step towards the start of a new academic journey and she urged them to continue to strive and move forward and not be afraid to get out of their comfort zone.

 

She also urged them to play their role and take part towards contributing back to the community and helping them to improve their quality of life.

 

She also called upon parental involvement in the education of their children at home which helps to enhance their children's learning process and progress.

 

At the same time, she also expressed her appreciation to the teachers for their hard work and sacrifices in helping their students to perform well in their learning.

 

Such ceremony is intended to give positive recognition to the excellent students and at the same time, to encourage their fellow students to score well and do better in their respective examination in the future.
