BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

A local trio was acquitted of cheating charge by the Magistrate's Court yesterday after a trial found insufficient evidence.

The defendants, 45-year-old Rahimah binti Brahim, 35-year-old Mohamad Hanizam bin Haji Awang and 43-year-
old Siti Sara binti Haji Daud, were earlier charged with cheating a woman to deliver her car to them in a bogus purchasing scheme.

There was insufficient evidence to continue with a voir dire hearing in the trial where the trio's statements to the
police were found to be involuntary.

Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin acquitted the trio immediately.

Lawyer Rozaiman Abdul Rahman represented the trio. DPP Emeralda Abas prosecuted the case.
