HK University Delegates Visits Survey Dept

Representatives from Hong Kong Polytechnic University led by the Head of Department Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI), Professor Dr John Shi Wen Zhong, recently made a working visit to the Survey Department, Ministry of Development (MoD), according to a press release.

 

The Acting Surveyor General, Survey apartment, Haji All Bakar bin Haji Kasim, welcomed the representatives and said that he appreciated the representatives' visit.

 


The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a public university established in 1937. It offers both undergraduate (Higher Diploma and Bachelors) and postgraduate (Masters and PhD) programmes of various studies, such as Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Computing and Logistics and Maritimes studies.

 

The main purpose of the working visit was to introduce the Higher Diploma, Bachelor and Master programmes of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics to the Survey Department with hopes to gain interest among the staff and officers to join the university as well as for future collaboration between the Hong Kong Polytechnic and Survey Department and MoD.

 

Professor Dr John Shi Wen Zhong stated that the department offers a full range of Geomatics programmes for undergraduates and postgraduates focusing on Land Surveying, Geo-Informatics, and Utility Management and Surveying.

 

Apart from this, it is also accredited by professional institutions such as the Hong Kong Institutes of Surveyors (HKIS), Hong Kong Institutions of Engineers (HKIE) and Hong Kong Institution of Engineering Surveyors (HKIES), as well as regional counterparts, the Royal Institutions of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

 

Professor Dr John Shi also informed that the university offers full scholarship for local and international best students subject to terms and conditions.

 

Also present were the acting deputy surveyor general and senior officers from the Survey Department.
