The roles and responsibilities of a Fire and Rescue personnel is not only to conduct fire fighting operations and saving lives as well as properties, they are also an agency who are responsible to ensure that buildings are always in safe condition.
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications highlighted the matter at the closing ceremony of the Basic Fire fighters Training Course and the Lower Ranked Officers Course for Fire and Rescue Personnel of the Airport Fire Services Section at the Department of Civil Aviation yesterday. Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Ahmad said apart from manpower and machinery factors, suitable methods to manage emergency incidents are also of absolute importance. The Permanent Secretary stressed on the importance of emergency trainings to tests and practises the Standard Operating Procedure to ensure said procedure is suitable for emergency incidents.
10 Fire and Rescue trainees have completed the 20-week course. Awang Abdul Hamdi bin Haji Awang Raya was selected as the Best Overall Trainee, while the Best Practical Training went to Awang Mohammad Nadzri bin Haji Tarsat, and Awang Mohammad Sahrin bin Lamat was selected as the Best in Theory Training. In the ceremony, 2 Deputy Station Officers and 6 Senior Fire and Rescue Personnel who took part in the 4-week Lower-ranked Course also received their respective certificates. Apart from fire fighting training, values such as team work and discipline were also inculcated in the training.
