His concept was simple. Stick an Oreo biscuit into half a Creme Egg, squish it up a bit, and enjoy.
Nick Allam, 29, had the idea for the hybrid snack at work – and the resulting gooey, biscuity egg was so delicious that he decided to tweet a photo to the Cadbury press office, suggesting they go into production.
Two years ago, he sent them the photo saying ‘Make this’, and received a response from from the PR saying they would ‘be sure to put that to our product team’.
Now, the dream is a reality, with the Oreo Egg now on the shelves.
So was it all thanks to Nick?
The company say it is ‘unlikely’, as it was originally on sale in Canada.
But Nick claimed: ‘I’m going to put it out there and say I did invent it, so yes, Cadbury have stolen my idea.’
Nick, a communications and marketing officer from Worle, Somerset, came up with the idea in January 2015.

He didn’t think much more about it, until this week when the launch of the new Oreo Egg was announced.
‘I was lying in bed on Thursday night looking at my phone and I noticed it come up on social media.
‘I thought ‘hang on I’ve seen this before’,’ he said.
‘I re-tweeted [Cadbury] my original tweet which I sent in 2015, but so far I haven’t heard anything back.’
Nick said he would like some recognition for his idea.
‘I’m not annoyed and I don’t want any money in return,’ he said.
‘It is a bit like peanut butter and jelly, I came up with the combination but as I don’t own the brands I can’t see that I could profit from it, but it would be nice to get a thank you or a response from Cadbury.’
Cadbury launched the Oreo Egg last week. It comes in a minipack of eight for £1.
However, a spokeswoman for the company said it was probably just a coincidence.
‘We’re lucky to have some really creative Cadbury fans and we love to see new, wacky ways to eat our products,’ she said.
‘While Nick wowed us with his imagination, as this isn’t a UK product it’s very unlikely to be his invention.
‘However, as he is clearly a fan of Cadbury and Oreo we’ll be sending him a selection of our Oreo Easter products that are available here in the UK.’
Nick himself has since posted again on Twitter, saying that he’s amazed there has been such a response to his tweet.
In a video of him eating the new Oreo egg, he said: ‘It’s gone way too far.
‘It’s quite nice – mine is better.’
