Man Ordered to Settle Fine

A Malaysian who pleaded guilty to possessing smuggled cigarettes and alcoholic drinks had to settle a fine of $2,000, or serve two months' jail term in default of payment in the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (Jan 17) . 


Thirty-six-year-old Lim Yee Seow did not declare anything the customs authorities when he 
arrived at the Kuala Lurah Control Post in his car at 10.10am on January 15, 2017  


The customs preventive officer on duty at the post inspected the defendant's car and found five cartons of cigarettes and four bottles of liquor and 12 cans of beer.


Senior Magistrate Lailatul Zubaidah binti Hussain presided over the case.
