The significance of youth organisations to the country's progress was recently brought up by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, during a meeting with representatives of 45 youth associations on Tuesday.

"Youths have a role to play in the country's transformation, in keeping with the 11th National Youth Day theme of 'Visionary youth: Catalyst for transformation'," said the minister, adding that youth associations should also work together to form mutual cooperation.

The meeting is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in encouraging local youth associations to jointly work together in achieving the goals of Brunei Vision 2035.

Among the matters discussed during the meeting was a proposal for an Open Office at the Youth Centre, which would function as management facilities, 41. headquarters, for all youth organisations.

Proposals were also made for the establishment of a directory, to allow youths to follow and look up information on local organisations.

Also present at the meeting were Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
