A local man was ordered to pay a fine of $2,000, or serve two months' jail term in default, by the Magistrate's Court last Thursday after he pleaded guilty to committing criminal intimidation.
Mohammad Hazman bin Nasri, 31, threatened a petrol station attendant of Indonesian nationality by waving a metal rod to his face and shouted "Do you want to die?" at a petrol station in Kampong Kapok at 5 pm on January 10, 2017.
Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin further heard from DPP Raihan Nabilah Ahmad Ghazali that the defendant was queuing up to buy fuel for his car when he thought the attendant was staring at him and his wife.
Enraged, he took out the metal rod from his, car and repeatedly banged it on his car door.
He asked the attendant why he had been staring at him and his wife.
The attendant did not respond which infuriated the defendant to approach the attendant. He pointed the metal rod to his face asking why he had been staring at them and repeatedly threatened the attendant, uttering "Do you want to die?"
The defendant then went back in his car, threw B$3 out the car window and drove off.
The attendant felt alarmed and lodged a police report the next day leading to the defendant's arrest the same day.
