PENAMPANG

North Borneo Land (NBLand) Avenue Sdn Bhd’s official launch of the first earthquake-resistant luxury condominium, SkyVue Residence, here could pave the way for more buildings designed with the feature.

Penampang District Officer (DO) Luvita Koisun, who officiated the ceremony, hopes other developers will follow suit in making their future developments earthquake resistant.

“We (Penampang District Council) should pose that requirement, especially on high-rise buildings and we are already talking about it now, to impose this condition on developers,” said Koisun at the ceremony.

“We are looking at it, and, in fact, we might put earthquake resistance as one of the criteria or condition on developers,” she briefly revealed and lauded NBLand for taking the initiative to incorporate the feature in their development here.

NBLand managing director GN Wong said soon after the state’s June 5, 2015 earthquake, the company decided to ensure that SkyVue Residence will have an earthquake resistant structure.

However, NBLand did not stop there and decided to ensure that SkyVue Residence would also be prepared for the incoming of better technologies.

Its executive director Chong Kit Han said the building is fitted with fibre optic infrastructure, a fairly new design for the building industry.

“In anticipation of new technologies, the building is ready. It will only depend on the infrastructures provided by the government. We already prepared for the future,” said Chong.

“You will be able to access faster internet broadband in your homes and also IPTV (Internet Protocol television). The new generation of TV system will no longer be satellite, which can be interrupted by the weather, as the next generation system is expected to be streamed on the internet,” he added.

“Besides that, fibre optic cable will serve all the telephone system, CCTV and even Astro (Malaysian Satellite Pay TV, HD, PVR & IPTV Service Provider).

“For some of the buildings in the market, HD TV satellite is not available, SkyVue Residence is provided with fibre optic so we can cater to all kinds of communication,” he added.

Meanwhile, Wong assured that NBLand had not forgotten about the more traditional factors which are on the lists of future homeowners.

He said SkyVue is not only located on primeland Kobusak but has a 200-meter buffer away from the Penampang Bypass Road so homeowners would not immediately be overwhelmed by the road traffic.

Furthermore, it is only five minutes away from Kota Kinabalu centre and is in close proximity of Lido, excellent amenities, shopping as well as dining areas, and three minutes away from Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Skyvue Residence climbs 22 storeys into the clouds and consists of only 200 uniquely designed residential units, including eight penthouses and a four-level multi-storey car park with a multi-tier security system.

Units range from a built-up areas of 1,265 sq ft to a spacious 3,500 sq ft, ideal for families or startup families who are looking for a bigger home.

Chong added that SkyVue revolves around practical design and its already spacious units are also designed with high ceilings and doors, giving greater livable space on the already very reasonable as well as competitively priced units.

“Nosoob will be the location of our next development. We are waiting for the approval from the authorities and hope by end of this year we can start with the new project,” said Chong.
