 April 18th, 2016  |  05:13 AM  |   1455 views

SERIA, KUALA BELAIT

Chung Ching Middle School (CCMS) of Seria held a Sports Day at the Anthony Abell College Stadium on Saturday.

The students were divided into four teams; Green House (Honesty), Blue House (Justice), Purple House (Love) and Red House (Respect) as they competed for the number one title.

In the opening speech delivered by Dr. Ang Sik Liong, Principal of CCMS in his capacity as chairman of the event, reminded the attendees that engaging in sports is important, whereby is affects both the mental and physical positioning of the human body. It is the reason why schools all over the globe take out just one day of the entire school calendar to engage students in competitive sports.

"Beyond the obvious health benefits, sports can teach us much about life. It teaches us about teamwork, how to get along with others and it teaches us to work together to achieve a common goal," said the principal.

Students participated in the 100-metre, 200-metre and 400-metre individual run as well as the 4x400 metres and 10x60 metres relay.

Other field events also included the Long Jump, Shot Put and Softball Throw.

By the end of the event, Purple House (Love) and Red House (Respect) reached a tie in the amount of points accumulated. The best team however was awarded to Purple House (Love) for winning more gold medals in the events.

Meanwhile, third place went Blue House (Justice).
