Study UK Exhibition Will Conduct Art and Design Study Talk

There is currently a strong emphasis on developing the creative industries in Brunei. Students with artistic talents can hope to venture into exciting careers in the government sector as well as the commercial world.
Dr Ed D'Souza, Head of Winchester School of Art, and Lizzie Eyres, Country Development Manager from the University of Southampton, will be giving a talk on Art and Design courses and careers during the StudyUK Exhibition at the The Empire Hotel & Country Club at 5pm on Tuesday January 24, 2017.
The seminar will cover latest developments in this ever growing field, course pathways, eligibility criteria, portfolio requirements etc.
The Winchester School of Art (WSA) is one of the UK's leading and most progressive art and design institutions. It has a long history going back almost 150 years and is part of the world-renowned University of Southampton.
WSA offers some of the most flexible and dynamic Art and Design programmes in the UK, with undergraduate courses spanning the spectrum of Fine Art, Fashion and Textile Design, Graphic Arts, Games Design and Art, Fashion Marketing and Fashion Management.
The three-year Graphic Arts course for example has specialised pathways in Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration and Motion Graphics. The course has been developed through discussion with leading industry practitioners and includes a range of innovative strategies which provide opportunities to engage directly with creative industries, thus easing transition to professional practice.
The core modules of the programmes at WSA are strengthened by career focussed optional modules that include enterprise, digital practice, marketing and branding, museum galleries, visual cultures etc. Other important features of the programmes at the school are options for work placements, professional opportunities, exchanges and study abroad; all designed to give the student invaluable employability skills.
One of major attractions at WSA is the dedicated studio space for itsFine Art, Graphics, and Fashion and Textile students.
Professional creative management suites and presentation areas are supported with extensive resources including digital-printing facilities, professionally equipped photographic studios, screen-printing facilities, a variety of specialist computer suites, an Apple authorised video-editing centre, laser cutting, 3D printing/ prototyping machines, and networked data storage for all students. WSA alsohasits own gallery, library, students' union, and art and design supplies shop.
WSA has had a number of Bruneian students completing their undergraduate and postgraduate studies and the Bruneian alumni have achieved success in Brunei and received global accolade.
