Smuggling Cases , 3 Slapped With Fines

The Magistrate's Court yesterday heard three smuggling cases and sentenced the defendants.

 

bin Salahudin, a 30 year-old local was ordered by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid to pay a fine of $2,800, or serve jail for two months in default of payment.


Muhammad Alif  was found in possession of eight cartons of smuggled cigarettes in his car when he arrived at the Kuala Lurah Control Post at 1pm on April 14, 2014.

 

On a separate case, 42-year old Indian nationality Saji Kumar Krishnan Nair was ordered to settle a fine of $200, or serve two weeks' Jail in default of payment. He was caught with a dozen cans of beer and a bottle of liquor when he arrived in his car at the Kuala Lurah Control Post at 2.50pm on January 16, 2017.

 

in another smuggling case, Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman handed a fine of $3,000 to a 31-year-old local man Mohammad Hasbi bin Kasman. Mohammad Hasbi bin Kasman Mohammad Hasbi was found in possession of 10 cartons of cigarettes when he arrived in his car at the Kuala Lurah Control Post at 5.10pm on January 8, 2017. He has to serve a month's jail term in default of payment.
