VIENTIANE, LAOS

The third Sedon Bridge in Pakse District, Champassak Province was officially launched last Sunday.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, Prime Minister of the Government Office Mr Sonexay Siphandone, and Governor of Champassak Province, Mr Bounthong Dyvisay.

The bridge is being built by Lao World Company which anticipates that construction will take approximately three years, according to Director of the Lao World Company, Mr Sakxay Vongmalasith.

"The cost of the bridge is estimated to be approximately 115 billion kip (about US$14 million), and will be funded by the government," said Mr Sakxay Vongmalasith.

“The Sedon Bridge will be 11 meters wide, 232 meters long and will have 2 lanes,” said Mr Sakxay.

The new bridge is being built to replace an existing bridge which is old and has some damage.
