Oct/Nov 'A' and 'AS' Level Results Shows Improvement

The results of the Brunei-Cambridge GCE 'A' and AS' Levels, which took place in October/ November 2016 has been published by the Examinations Department of the Ministry of Education.

 

For the Brunei-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level Examination, 1,857 (or 91.21 per cent) out of the total 2,036, have obtained at least one 'A' Level. This achievement showed an increase of 3.19 per cent from the 2015 results.


Overall, the percentage of candidates who obtained at least 2 'A' levels were 79.76 per cent, up by 4.30 per cent where school candidate achievement was up by 3.32 per cent 87.66 per cent.


A total of 1,298 candidates or 63.75 per cent obtained at least 3 'A' levels. This achievement showed an increase of 7.62 per cent when compared to 2015.Altogether, 150 candidates or 7.37 per cent achieved grade 'A' in two to five subjects. This achievement increased by 0.39 per cent when compared to 2015.


In total, 21 subjects showed an increase between 1.39 per cent and 24.09 per cent in candidate achievement when compared to 2015.


These subjects were Hafaz Koran, Syariah, Usuluddin, English Language, Malay Language, Food Studies, Travel and Tourism, Thinking Skills, Literature in English, Geography, History, Psychology
Sociology, Biology Chemistry, Physics, Design and Technology, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics and Computer Science.


Meanwhile for the Brunei-Cambridge GCE 'AS' Level Examination, out of the 1,404 candidates who sat for the exams, some 1,312 candidates (or 93.45 per cent) have obtained at least one 'AS' level.


A total of 951 candidates (67.74 per cent) obtained at least two subjects of 'AS' level standard.


In total, 87 candidates or 6.20 per cent achieved grade 'A' in at least two subjects. This achievement showed an increase of 0.61 per cent when compared to 2015's results.


The Ministry of Education said students who took the exams can obtain their result slips at their respective schools, while private candidates are required to get their result slips at the Examinations Department of the Ministry of Education during office hours.


Candidates who wish to re-sit the examination to improve their performance may do so in the May/June registration.


Forms and registration information can be obtained from the Examinations Department of the Ministry of Education, where the closing date for registration for the examinations in. May/June, 2017 is on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
