His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office expresses the hope the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Accession of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to The Throne, will not only become an oral tradition of the history of His Majesty's glorious rule but also upholds the strength of the country's Monarchical institution by continuing to maintain the Bruneian identity, culture and traditions.

However, His Royal Highness adds, the planning and concept of the events must be moderate and emphasise aspects of Adat Istiadat DiRaja Brunei or the Royal Customs and Protocols of Brunei.   His Royal Highness made the sabda at the first meeting of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne this morning.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince as the Patron of the Advisory Committee for the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to The Throne, was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien as a Member of the Celebration's Advisory Committee.  Also welcoming His Royal Highness were the Joint Chairmen of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration , Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, The Yang Di-Pertua Of Adat Istiadat Negara;  Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd Nawawi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Haji Awang Mohd Taha, the Private and Confidential Secretary of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The meeting began with the recital of Surah al-Fatihah and 'doa selamat led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal, member of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz in a welcoming address said the presence of His Royal Highness reflected the deep concern and great commitment of His Royal Highness towards leading the direction of all aspects of planning and related preparations for the Golden Jubilee celebration.

In a sabda, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince stresses that the planning and concepts of the celebration should not only be moderate but more importantly clearly symbolises accomplishments of His Majesty's reign that are very significant to the country's citizens and residents.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in the sabda adds that the celebratory events should be planned in detail and monitored systematically.  Using the 'delivery approach', His Royal Highness says, the aspects of caution and economy should be emphasised in every plan.

Among other matters, today's meeting discussed the formation of committees and proposals for the celebration.  His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, The Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan Of Brunei Darussalam acceded to the Throne as the 29th Sultan of Brunei Darussalam on the 5th of October 1967, when His Majesty was 21 years old.  The Golden Jubilee celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne will be another historical moment to the country as well as become an oral tradition among the future generations.
