YOGYAKARTA,
The total number of victims of an alleged hazing incident during a freshman orientation program held by a climbing club of the Indonesia Islamic University (UII) in Yogyakarta has reached 17 with the hospitalization of another four on Friday.
The four students were admitted to Jogja International Hospital (JIH) in Yogyakarta. “They felt general anxiety and complained of heartburn,” the hospital’s internist Moch Khalimur Rouf told reporters on Friday. “We will check whether they are suffering from [internal] bleeding or not.”
UII rector Harsoyo resigned on Thursday following the deaths of the three freshmen after participating in the Jan. 13-20 orientation program held by the Mapala Unisi climbing club on the slopes of Mount Lawu in Central Java.
