Youth Scheme Aim to Produce New Players, Early Exposure

The Department of Youth and Sports Football Scheme has finally been revived after 25 years. It is an initiative made by the department to produce new players and act as an early exposure in football to the younger generation in the grassroots level.
A launching ceremony of the said scheme organised by the Sports Coaching and Development Unit, Department of Youth and Sports with the cooperation of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) at Field A of the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.
The purpose of this scheme is to provide basic understanding mainly in football in addition to providing knowledge, and teaching in football through practical designed for under 12 year olds.
Indirectly, the program will nurture talent of children and as a long-term preparation in planning the development of football in the country.
The ceremony was launched by Haji Zafri bin Haji Mohamed, Acting Director of Youth and Sports.
Also present were Pengiran Anak Mohd Sofian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim, Acting Deputy Director of Youth and Sports and Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Acting General Secretary of NFABD as well as officers from the Department of Youth and Sports.
The ceremony started with the acting director introduced to the participants before the launching ceremony was marked with a penalty kick.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session and the participants continuing their exercise.
The scheme will be held every Friday from 7:30am to 9:30am at Field 'B' of the Berakas Sports Complex.
