Brunei Darussalam's population comprise of various cultures and races. The harmonious relations fostered amongst the races have become a vital element that should be given attention as strong ethnic ties among the community can ensure economic and social relations stability in the country. The Chinese New Year 2017 Celebration is further enlivened with open house functions. As usual, the country's community joins together in enlivening the celebration.

Among those holding an open house function was Yang Berhormat Awang Ong Tiong Oh, member of the Legislative Council at his residence in Jalan Kebangsaan. The open house function, apart from establishing unity between the races and ethnicities in the country, it also fosters goodwill amongst the people.

Meanwhile, an open house function was also held at the residence of Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Goh King Chin. Apart from together celebrating the Chinese New Year, the practice of open house functions also aim to strengthen the existing relations. This is proven with the goodwill ties established amongst the people regardless of race and background.
