SMAS Students, Fire Victims Receive Donations from ISB Students

 February 1st, 2017  |  10:05 AM  |   937 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Gifts of backpacks containing school supplies were presented by a number of Year 11 students and teacher from International School Brunei (ISB) to students of Awang Semaun Secondary School (SMAS) who recently lost their homes in the recent fires in Kampong Ayer as well as other underpriveledged students.

The idea of the donation sparked when a CfBT teacher working at SMAS heard about a commmunity project that the ISB has been running and initiated connections between the two schools.

Maggie Rait, an English Department teacher who is overseeing the project, was inspired by a recent trip to Vietnam with the
students when they were in Year 10.

Involved ISB students handed over 80 bags to SMAS students.

An arranged boat trip was made from Pusar Ulak to the SMAS jetty. The ISB students joined the morning assembly and then set up the Staff Lounge for the presentation ceremony, followed by a tour of the school campus.
