Company Fined for Tax Evasion

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

A company were ordered to pay a fine of B$5,000 by the Bandar Magistrate's Court for failing to present their Income Tax Returns to the Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance despite several notices.

 


The charge of not supplying the income tax returns for the end of December 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 were pleaded guilty by a representative of CEC Casson Sdn Bhd.
The company representative were ordered by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul to settle the fine before February 28, 2017.

 


The charge under Section 78(2) Income Tax Act (Cap 35) that carries a fine of B$10,000 and 12 months imprisonment in default were preferred by the Prosecuting Officer, Siti Aisyah binti Haji Lakim.
Companies are legally bound to furnish their Income Tax Returns to determine their earnings under the Income Tax Act.
