Clerk Imprisoned For Misusing $29,348

The Intermediate Court yesterday passed on a sentence of 18 months detainment to a 45-year-old chief clerk of the Central Police Station who confessed to a charge of misusing government money in a sum of $29,348.

 

Haji Sarbini bin Damong Haji Ahmad miused compound and incidental money from Central Police Station and Kampong Ayer Police Station.

 

Judge Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin was told by DPP Emily Goh that the defendant misused the sum from 539 transactions happening between November 16 and December 19, 2013.

 

The DPP further added that the defendant misused $23,600 from 472 compound fine transactions, $748 from 65 general transactions and $5,000 from two transactions of bail bond money.

 

The defendant did not put the sum into the government account and submit receipts.
