Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, the non-government organisation dedicated to quality education of the special needs community, received much-needed donations from BIBD At-Tamwil yesterday, in the form of a laptop computer and specialised books for Politeknik Brunei's 3P programme.

The contribution was presented by Awang Johari bin Haji Abdul Latif, the Acting Head of the Centre for Student Development and Innovation at Politeknik Brunei to Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab, the Senior Trustee of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam.

In a brief statement, Awang Haji Ehwan bin Haji Juned, the Acting Assistant Head of Student Development and Innovation at Politeknik Brunei, explained that volunteer students from the technical college have been working as daily care assistants and teachers at Pusat Ehsan, both at its Bengkurong headquarters and at the Kuala Belait branch.

Supported by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, (BIBD), BIBD At-Tamwil Berhad and Maybank Berhad, the 3P programme requires these institutions to give financial and teaching aids for the special needs community of Pusat Ehsan.

Around 150 special needs students are now registered at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Bengkurong, and 53 are registered at the Kuala Belait branch.

Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam always welcomes contributions from private companies and the general public, with the aim of helping and assisting the special needs community.
