Mohammad Radzuan bin Md Daud, 35, an employee of a local company who pocketed over $3,000 was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment by the Intermediate Court yesterday.

He was ordered to compensate the company the amount he had taken.

Judge Pengiran Masni bint Pengiran Bahar sentenced the defendant. She said that imposing a fine is not sufficient to reflect his abuse of trust given to him by his employers and that the company would have suffered huge financial loss had the defendant's acts were not discovered.

The Judge also ordered the defendant to serve an additional month's imprisonment if he fails to compensate the company $3,009.29.

DPP Farhanah binti Pehin Dato Suhaili informed the court that the defendant worked at Ideal Marketing   Sdn Bhd and last held the position of a sales representative trainee.

The DPP further said that the defendant committed criminal breach of trust by pocketing the company's money which he was responsible to receive and hand over to the accountant.
