Malaysian Man Fined for Turtle Eggs Possession

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
A 34-year-old Malaysian man was ordered by the Magistrate’s Court to pay fine of $7,000 or serve four months in jail, after he pleaded to possession of protected wild fauna and flora.
546 Olive Ridley, 371 Green, and 80 Hawksbill turtle eggs was found in the car of Shahril bin Amatslan on arrival at the Labu Control Post in Temburong at 6.25pm on 16th October, 2016 according to the statement of facts.
Customs Order 2006 and the Wild Fauna and Flora Order 2007 was violated by the defendant.
DPP Azmeena binti Mohiddin represented the Public Prosecutor in the case presided by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid.
