Court Slapped Local Company with $3k Fine for Tax Evasion

The Magistrate's Court yesterday imposed a BND$3,000 fine on a local company after its representative pleaded guilty to failure to pay income tax.

Narbarte's Sendirian Berhad had not filed tax returns for incomes accrued in and derived from or received in Brunei for the years that ended December 31, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Senior Magistrate Lailatul Zubaidah binti Hussain gave the company two months to settle the fine and ordered for the seizure of its properties in the event of failure to pay.
