(KPL) The organising committee of the annual Elephant Festival 2017 has added fifteen more festive activities to its list and as a result, domestic and foreign visitors will be able to enjoy 20 interesting activities during the festival.
This year’s Elephant Festival will impress visitors with a number of shows by elephants including elephants holding national flags and walking ahead of parades, elephants holding the festival banner, elephants lining up, an elephant vs human tug of war, elephants drawing, elephants playing football, elephant races, elephant casting hoops, elephant dancing with khen (a traditional fluting instrument) being played, and elephant fluting and drumming, according to Mr Khamla Phiewvanna who is in charge of elephant show activities of the Elephant Festival 2017.
The Elephant Festival 2017 in Xayaboury Province will run from February 17-19.
The official opening ceremony will be held on 17 February with around 70 elephants joining activities during the festival.
The festival is the major event of the province and reminds visitors and residents that Laos once had a vast elephant population and as a result, Laos was once called the Land of a Million Elephants.
