345 Students Took Part In Early Intervention Programme (PIP)

A total of 345 students with their parents and guardians attended a briefing hosted by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) for their participation in the 2017 Education Intervention Programme (PIP). The briefing was held at the multipurpose hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Haasanal Bolkiah School (YSHHB).
The goal of the programme, which is scheduled to begin on March 5, 2017, is to shape a more knowledgeable community that is highly competitive and motivated to increase their standard of living so they would be independent from any kind of welfare assistance and to gather relevant agencies to help those in need.
Haji Mustapha bin Haji Matahir and Hajah Donnaliza binti Abdullah Puasa, Assistant Managing Directors of Yayasan were among the notable guests during the briefing.
The briefing was opened by a talk delivered by Cikgu Alimas bin Haji Mohd Ali, Acting Headmaster of YSHHB, followed by a motivational talk by Cikgu Haji Ali Yusri bin Abdul Ghafor, Head of Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education.
Subjects that are the main focus of the programme are Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, English and Science for Year 5 and 6 students. As for Year 10 and Year 11 students, the focus will be on Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics ‘D’, English and Combined Science.
The programme was first introduced in 2006. The initial aim was to assist and educate children from underprivileged families so that they are capable of pursuing their education as high as possible. During its early stage, only Year 6 students from Kg.Bolkiah sat for the Primary School Assessment (PSR).
For this year's programme, there will be eight PIP Tuition centres in the nation - YSHHB, Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA), Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School, Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School, Rataie Primary School and Sultan Hassan Primary School.
There will be eight PIP-approved centres in the country. This includes YSHHB, Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA), Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School, Pengiran Jaya Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School, Rataie Primary School and Sultan Hassan Primary School.
Throughout the years, Yayasan has successfully provided a total of 3,788 students including 94 students for Amalfi' Education and Al-Quran Studies.
