A certificate and award presentation ceremony was yesterday held for 145 members of the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) at the close of their very first Henry Dunant Leadership Camp at Tasik Sarubing.
BDRCS President, Awang Haji Ismail bin Kassim officiated the ceremony, which also saw the attendance of national executive members and BDRCS leaders.
Held from March 21-24 in conjunction with the first-term school holidays, the camp tested the young participants' mental discipline and physical resilience through military-style obstacle courses. The students were also briefed on first-aid and climate change.
Awang Faizal bin Gurie, the Director of BDRCS Communication and Public Affairs, said the camp served as a platform for BDRCS members from various schools to interact and socialise.
He added, the participants were selected during their pre-school years, and that this event gave them the opportunity to earn badges accredited by The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Brunei is one of the first countries to ever host the Henry Dunant Leadership Camp.
The award for the best team went to Action 5 Team from Mahad Islam Brunei, while second place was taken by RC Sejun Team from Rimba Secondary School, and Neon Tree Team from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School took third place.
