GEORGE TOWN

The daughter of businesswoman Ruby Lee Poh Ai, who was gunned down hitman-style, has returned from overseas where she is studying to pay her last respects to her mother.

Cassandra Siak Choy Yenn, 17, was seen arriving for the wake at the Batu Gantung funeral parlour at about 1.30pm yesterday. She shied away from pressmen who were present.

Also seen paying his last respects about an hour later was Lee’s 23-year-old son, Song Phei.

Lee, 49, was gunned down shortly after she drove her white BMW from her freight forwarding office in Lebuh Pekaka 1 in Sungai Dua near here on Tuesday.

Two men drew up on a motorcycle and the pillion rider fired at least 10 shots at her, of which six hit her on the chest and face.

Lee, who died on the spot, leaves behind Cassandra, Song Phei and her husband, Siak Kum Guan, 51.

Her funeral is scheduled to be held at 2pm today.

When contacted, Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainol Samah said the investigation was still ongoing with no new updates.
