Education is vital to be imparted to children, as without knowledge, they will not be able to differentiate between right and wrong. In this regard, parents play a huge role and responsibility in ensuring their children learn properly according to the Islamic way of teaching.
To shape a strong self-esteem and to be a true muslim, children need to be educated properly and in a well-balanced manner so that they can contribute their services to the family, community, race and country. This was among the contents of this week's Friday Sermon entitled "Pendidikan Anak-Anak Tanggungjawab Ibu Bapa" or Children's Education is the parents' responsibility.
The Imam or prayer leader in the sermon said that Islam is a complete religion whereby the assimilation of religious education for children begins from within the womb. Pregnant mothers are urged to recite the holy verses of Al-Quran as a spiritual education to the unborn babies.
After the babies are born, it is commendable to recite the azan or call for prayer in the infant's right ear and the iqamat in the left ear so that the first verse that they hear upon entering the world is tauhid verses. The prayer leader added that noble behaviour must also be instilled in the hearts and souls of the children from a young age.
If the hearts of the children are educated and instilled with strong islamic teachings, by Allah's will, they will become people who are pious, possessing love for Allah and the Prophet, contributing to the religion, parents, community, monarch and country as well as gaining success in this world and the hereafter.
