Minister Highlights Prisons Department’s Responsibilities

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs in an interview with the media highlighted that personnel of the Prisons Department should comply and maintain their discipline and work ethics as well as to obey the department's law. Disciplinary action will be taken against those who breach their duties and responsibilities.
The minister stated the matter after the Parade Ceremony in conjunction with 63rd establishment of the Prisons Department.
The Prisons Department, according to the minister is a uniformed department entrusted to maintain peace and security. Therefore, all personnel of the Prisons Department must obey the regulations and maintain their discipline as a reflection of the department's integrity. In this regard, the department's personnel are not only subject to the Prisons Department rules and regulations but also to the government.
Therefore, a disciplinary action will still be taken against them for offense outside the Law Act. Disciplinary actions also apply to civil servants working under the department, according to the civil service regulations.
