KG MERAGANG, BRUNEI-MUARA

Eighty-one students of the Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM) yesterday were celebrated in an Academic Achievement Award Ceremony for Year 2015.

Present as guest of honour was Major (Rtd) Haji Johari bin Haji Abdul Razak, Penghulu of Mukim Serasa.

Pengiran Hajah Maimunah binti Pengiran Haji Osman, PTEM Principal, during her welcoming address explained that the ceremony aimed to celebrate the achievements of their students and reward them for their excellent work.

She added that the students' excellent performance will enable them to have an opportunity to pursue their studies at tertiary level either in the country or abroad.

They may also have an opportunity to be awarded with government scholarships for their future undertakings.

The guest of honour, during his speech, noted that challenges and obstacles that the students encountered during their journey to strive for excellence have been paid off with their achievements.

"It is understandable that 'A' and 'AS' is too challenging for some. However, it has pushed these students to come out from their comfort zone by applying all learning methods that they have obtained in the classroom by doing constant revision and practise with their teachers," he said.

The prizes were awarded to students in seven categories comprising the Highest Achievement in accordance with BC-GCE A Level; Top Achievers in BC-GCE A Level 2015 by Tariffs Points; Best Student in Individual Subjects; Most Improved Student Awards; Outstanding Result in BC-GCE 'AS' Level; Young Leader Awards and Special Achievement Awards.

The awards were given to Upper 6 students from 2015 who achieved Cambridge grades equivalent to 300 Tariff points and above.

A total of 57 students received the awards.

Awang Muhd Fuad bin Matahir and Awangku Md Naaim Syafii bin Pengiran Haji Besma were announced as the Young Leader Awards recipients for their active involvement in extra co-curriculum, religious and social activities.

Special Achievement awards were given to Awang Roslin Begam Syed Sirajudeen and Dayang Fathin Amirah Haji Ismail for excellence in achieving three grade A and above for 'A' Level.
