The Intermediate Court sentenced a young man to two years’ jail along with one whipping after he pleaded guilty to stealing from a surau and a house.

Judge Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin handed down the sentence to Mohammad Azwa'an bin Karim, 18.

The defendant acted in collaboration with another man who had been sentenced earlier.

The defendant stole mobile phones, a silver bracelet and a backpack from a house at the MTSSR Barracks in Jalan Muara sometime between May 1 and 3, 2016.

He also stole a gas cylinder from the Surau of MTSSR, Jalan Muara sometime between January 27 and February 2, 2017.

DPP Raihan Nabilah binti Ahmad Ghazali prosecuted the case.
