AMBD, Curriculum Development Dept' Held Prize Giving Ceremony for 2016 Global Money Week

Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) in collaboration with the Curriculum Development Department at the Ministry of Education held a prize giving ceremony for Global Money Week 2016 recently at the Theatre Hall, Ministry of Finance.

 

Present for the ceremony were Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Nawi, Director of Curriculum Development, Ministry of Education and Dayang Suriati binti Haji Mohamad Taib, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIBFM).

 

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abdul Manaf, an officer from the Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education.

 

Throughout the Global Money Week, from March 1420, 2016, three competitions were held. Firstly, the Global Money Week Poster Competition required the students to prepare a poster themed 'I save because...'. It was open to all Year 5 students in Brunei Darussalam.

 

The winners were as follows: Winner - Awangku Md Isa Muqri bin Pengiran Kamarul Zaman, Seri Mulia Sarjana School; 1st Runner-Up – Awang Md Nor Zaki bin Haji Md Nor Hisham, Nusa Laila Puteri School, Sungai Buloh; and 2nd Runner-Up – Dayang Nur Haslizanina binti Mohammad Hasnal, Delima Satu Primary School.

 

Secondly, the Short Play Competition was opened to Years 10 and 11 students. Eleven schools participated in the 'Financial Planning' themed short plays. Three schools successfully made it to the final round which was held during the prize giving ceremony.

 

The winners for the competition were as follows: Winner - Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School, 1st Runner-Up - Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Secondary School and 2nd Runner-Up - Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) College.

 

The third competition was the Life-Sized Board Game that leads participants through the different life stages to show the financial responsibilities in the respective stages, in which six schools participated.

 

The winners were as follows: Winner - Katok Secondary School, 1st Runner-Up - Rimba II Secondary School and 2nd Runner-Up - SOAS College.

 

The event ended with a photography session for all winners with Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Nawi and Dayang Suriati binti Haji Mohamad Taib.

 

Global Money Week is an annual event held between 118 countries with the objective of increasing financial knowledge.
