MOE to Improve Learning Quality for Special Needs Students

Touching on students with special needs, the Minister of Education informed the Council, there are currently 4,303 such students studying from pre-school and primary schools up to higher education. Yang Berhormat Pehin explained a plan to improve the quality of learning for special needs students in reply to queries by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Hasrin and Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman.
The Minister of Education replied that students with special needs are provided suitable programmes according to their age and capabilities through the Remedial Educational Plan or the Individual Education Plan, IEP which is based on the learning objectives. These programmes are run with the cooperation and assistance of 138 Special Education teachers or Special Education Need Assistant, SENA teachers, 45 Home Room teachers and 136 Special Education Assistant Teachers as well as school level committee members, including class and subject teachers as well as foreign related agencies.
