The eco-tourism sector as well as the cultural and heritage sector is among the heart of the country's tourism industry. Apart from the rain forest, Kampong Ayer and other tourist attractions, several areas will be developed as tourist destinations; among them are beaches and forest areas. This was explained by the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism in responding to a query raised by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin.

According to Yang Berhormat, there are village community-based tourist destinations that can be found in Brunei Muara district and in Tutong Distinct such as in Kampung Tanjong Maya and Kampung Kiudang. The rest of the destinations are for tourist activities such as diving in the Brunei waters as well as bird watching and cycling activities in the forest.
