Legislative Council Approves Two Resolutions

Yesterday’s LegCo session also approved the resolution under clause 83 (7) from the 1959 Brunei Darussalam Constitution and resolution under Section 4 (2) from the Development Fund Act Chapter 136.

 

The resolution under Clause 83 (7) of the 1959 Brunei Darussalam Constitution, that every Order made under Clause 3, matter 83 of the Brunei Darussalam Constitution presented to the Legislative Council as paper number 1, 2017, was proposed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. The council approved it without deliberation, whereby 31 Orders listed have received the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam to be used. Part of the Orders has already been carried out and used last year and another part have begun to be carried out this year. All of the orders were gazetted according to the regulations and constitution of Brunei Darussalam.

 

Meanwhile, the second resolution under Section 4 (2) of the Development Fund Act, Chapter 1-3-6 for the budget of $1 Billion for allocation approval and requested from the Development Fund for specific purposes has been approved by the Council to be made into an Act. The resolution was proposed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance to enable His Majesty's government to continue the National Development Plan as scheduled.
