The International Forestry celebration this year carries the theme, 'Forests and Energy: Nature's Powerhouse'. The theme stresses the importance of lasting forestry management implemented by the Forestry Department in maintaining its role in the future, for the continuous wellbeing of the country's people.

The country's forests are rich in flora and fauna. This involves four aspects. Firstly, provisioning that focuses on the benefits of food and medicinal resources. Regulating that takes care of the sustainability of the climate and water cycle. Thirdly, the supporting aspects play a role in the cycle of nutrients and pollination for the balance of the eco-system. And finally the cultural aspect that contributes to spiritual wellbeing and recreational value.

Looking at these benefits, the Forestry Department, as the agency responsible for forestry resources welcomes entrepreneurs who wish to invest in the country's timber industry and its value-added products. This is in line with the Forestry Department's strategic plan to improve the growth of the forestry industry, simultaneously improving the economy in a comprehensive way through processing, trade and investment as well as other forestry-related sectors.
