This year's National Family Day celebration will focus on raising the public's awareness on the importance of instilling love within the family in order to create a harmonious family. According to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, a strong sense of love within a family can lead to tolerance, understanding and solidarity apart from avoiding misunderstandings especially when a family faces a problem.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Hj Mohd Yussof, as Chairman of the National Family Day Executive Committee underlined the matter while chairing the National Family Day Executive Committee meeting yesterday morning.

According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, the ministry is aware that it is not easy to carry out the roles and responsibility of raising awareness on the importance of love among family members. It should be supported by all levels of society including all government and non-government agencies in contributing towards the success of the goal.

The meeting among other things discussed on the format of the National Family Day's main events such as religious and communal activities, sports as well as recreation. Also present was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.  The National Family Day will be held on the 7th of May with the theme "Keluargaku Penyayang Negara Gemilang". The National Family Day celebration is a proof of the nation's aspiration that prioritises family life based on noble and religious values, love as well as respect. The country is also aware that family institutions play a vital role in strengthening the society's welfare and solidarity.
