The National Assembly held a meeting to brainstorm draft amendments to two laws of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the People’s Court that deal with the handling of people’s complaints to make sure the two legislations meet current requirements.

The two-day meeting began in Vientiane on March 22 in the presence of Ms Bouakham Thipphavong, President of Justice Commission of the National Assembly,  Brig. Gen. Khamsouk Vi-inthavong, President of Defense and Public Security Commission of the National Assembly, and relevant lawmakers from central and provincial levels.

“This meeting will witness its participants sharing comments on the draft amendments to the two laws namely Law on Public Prosecutor Office and the Law on People’s Court to make sure they are in line with revised constitution 2015and current requirements of socio-economic development in the country,” said Ms Bouakham Thipphavong.

The meeting also provided the participants with the opportunity to make preparations in the legal context for the coming third ordinary session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature, and discuss mechanisms needed for addressing problems better, especially people’s complaints in the justice sector.

The participants also read the resolution of the standing committee of the National Assembly on the organisational structures and functions of the Justice Commission and the Defense and Public Security Commission of the National Assembly.
