Motorcyclist, driver killed in accidents
Police carrying out investigation at the accident scene yesterday.

A motorcyclist was killed after he fell and was dragged by a trailer truck at Km 16, Jalan Beaufort/Sipitang here yesterday morning.
Muhammad Hairul Nizam Bin Nazri, 24, of Taman En Su, Kerupang 1, Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan, died of severe head and body injuries in the 11.45am incident.
District police chief DSP Azmir Abd Razak said initial police investigation revealed that both vehicles were heading to Lawas from Beaufort when the motorcyclist overtook the trailer truck.
“After overtaking the trailer truck, we believe the victim lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the road.
“Because the trailer truck was too close, the victim was dragged underneath the truck for a couple of meters from the scene.
“The victim died of severe head and body injuries,” he said yesterday.
His body was taken to the district hospital and family members had been notified of the incident, said Azmir.
Police have detained the 53-year-old truck driver to assist in the investigation of the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In Tawau, a 26-year-old man was killed when the four-wheel-drive vehicle he was driving collided with an palm oil tanker parked at the road shoulder.
Eric Ignisius sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.
District police chief ACP Fadil bin Marsus said the accident happened about 4.36pm yesterday at Km 8 Jalan Merotai-Dumpas here.
The four-wheel-drive was on its way from Dumpas to Tawau when the driver lost control and collided with the tanker at the road shoulder.
Fadil said there were no witnesses and the deceased was not drunk.
“We are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
