Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith received a courtesy call on March 23 from a Singaporean volunteer delegation during their working visit to the Lao PDR in a bid to support Lao education.
The delegation was led by the Singapore Ambassador to Laos, Mr Dominic Goh, and 58 volunteer students and teachers from Ngee Ann Polytechnic University in Singapore.
On the occasion, PM Thongloun warmly welcomed the delegation and spoke of the value of the visit, which will significantly contribute to supporting Lao education, and strengthening the friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the nations and people of Laos and Singapore.
Since 2008, over 1500 professionals have done volunteer work supporting Laos, especially in rural schools and villages in Vientiane province. Volunteer students and professionals from Singapore have provided services to Lao students in rural schools including: education; traditional medicine; eye, dental, and medical treatment; English language lessons; and computer training.
On behalf of the delegation, the Singapore Ambassador to Laos, Mr Dominic Goh, expressed thanks to PM Thongloun for his warm welcome and also briefed him about the lessons and experiences exchanged between Lao and Singaporean students.
