BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Shouts, cheers and applause rang out across the Belapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday, while Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) celebrated its 41st Sports Day.

The guest of honour was Hajah Hashimawati binti Haji Mohamad, the Acting Principal of MSPSBS.

The event opened with the singing of the national anthem, which was subsequently followed with an aerobic session led by the students of Pra-U 1, and a vibrant march past by uniformed students and representatives of the college's four sports houses: Pahlawan, Laksmana, Hulubalang and Panglima.

There was also a reading of an oath by Mohd Farhan bin Ramlee, which marked the opening of MSPSBS's 41st Sports Day.

Participants took to the track in various athletic events, to win medals and points for their respective houses.

Pahlawan emerged as the winning house team with a medal haul of 22 gold, 16 silver and seven bronze.

In second place was Panglima, with 13 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze. Third-place winner Hulubalang finished with 9 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze; while Laksamana came in fourth with two gold, 6 silver and 13 bronze.

Prizes in the Bintang Sukan (Sporting Champion) category went to Muhammad Faiz and Lim Wan Chi @ Sherissa Lim, who won three gold medals each.
