Animal lovers are urging police to arrest a man who painted a dog blue, forced it to drink solvent and wounded it with an ice pick.

The man, who calls himself ‘Carlos Manuel Jimenez’ on social media, posted photos of the dog online.

Two men are facing a lengthy prison sentence after they tied up an elderly couple and poured boiling water over their heads.

The little terrier was later found in a warehouse in the city of Morelia in the central-western Mexican state of Michoacan.

Though the pup was taken to a nearby vet, it sadly died.

He later deleted the pictures of the dog, called Muneca (Doll), from his social media accounts.

The had already been sent on to the police by animal lovers who were disgusted at what they saw.

An online petition was created urging the authorities to track down the man and punish him for allegedly torturing and killing a defenceless animal.

The campaign gained traction online, with many concerned about the so-called ‘Blue Dog’.

It said: ‘Michoacan is one of the states with the worst violence against animals, we need to make people aware of that and to respect animals.

‘We seek justice for Muneca, she was painted and also forced to drink solvent and paint, stabbed with an ice axe and abandoned.
