Creative economy is one of the most rapidly growing sectors of the world economy. Apart from that, it is also a highly transformative one in terms of income generation, job creation and export earnings. The creative economy includes audiovisual products, design, new media, performing arts, publishing and visual arts. Between 2002 and 2011, developing countries averaged 12.1 per cent annual growth in exports of creative goods.
This was highlighted by Associate Professor Doctor Joyce Teo Siew Yean, the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Global Affairs) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam at the Opening Ceremony of Program for Impact 2017: Art and Design Graduation Exhibition - The Greater Spectacle, this morning.
Associate Professor Doctor Joyce Teo Siew Yean Associate Professor Doctor Joyce Teo Siew Yean also said that the exhibition proves how contemporary art and design can be a valuable component for connecting together the young generation's creativity and thought powerful visual expressions. A total of 54 unique pieces of the student artworks including original paintings, murals, sculptures, photographs, videos, computer graphics, animated video games, product designs and mixed media installations are on display at the exhibition. The exhibition aims to showcase and determine public appreciation of art education, as well as encourage and develop creativity, among the nation's youth. The exhibition is open to the general public until the 20th of May.
