YSHHB, JPI To Promote Al-Quran Literacy

YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) and the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) held a briefing yesterday for the parents and guardians of students in the Brunei-Muara District, who were selected for the Tahsin Project under the Education Intervention Programme (PIP).
The briefing was held at the multipurpose hall of the YSHHB Secondary School with Haji Mustapha bin Haji Matahir, Assistant Managing Director of YSHHB as the guest of honour.
Focusing on Al-Quran and Amali studies, the Tahsin Project will be implemented in PIP centres across the country tomorrow to promote Al-Quran literacy among the Brunei population.
The briefing began with procedural information on the Tahsin PIP Project 2017 delivered by Azmerul bin Haji Haris, Principal of the YSHHB Religious School.
Haji Mohammad Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Mulok, an Assistant Lecturer at the Core Knowledge Centre of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) also delivered a motivational talk.
The project will focus on Primary 5 and 6 students from less fortunate families, who require help with their studies, particularly in religious subjects.
A number of schoolchildren have already been selected for participation in the Tahsin Project: 18 students from seven schools in the Brunei-Muara District; 17 students from five schools in the Belait District; 23 students from 13 schools in the Tutong District; and 17 students from seven schools in the Temburong District.A
