BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Islam encourages the practice of savings in daily life, as in spending, clothing and use of energy. In the use of electrical energy, every individual must ensure efficient and wise usage so that the facility can be enjoyed continuously. Every user must take seriously and give cooperation in electrical usage to avoid wastage. This was among the contents of yesterday's Friday Sermon entitled 'Awareness on Energy Savings'.
The imam or prayer leader urged government and private agencies, individuals, citizens and residents of the country to be prudent in their electrical usage. The country's population should save electricity through a number of ways such as, switching off lights after use, switching off all unused electrical appliances and equipment and not to leave it on standby mode. It is best to reduce the use of air-conditioners and to only use it when needed. Children and family members should be educated to always practice a prudent attitude in electrical use. Users awareness in saving electricity is not only limited to the homes but also at the workplace such as government buildings as well as mosques. For mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide, the public and congregants play a vital role and responsibility towards electrical use and savings either in the mosque or even outside the mosque building itself. Because savings is a praiseworthy practice while being wasteful is a most contemptible practice, muslims are urged to together uphold the government's desire to appreciate and be prudent in electrical usage and make it into one of the daily way of life in line with the teachings of Islam. Let us instil, educate and make it our culture so that we will always be wise and efficient in electrical usage and savings and avoid from carrying out wastage.
