Rescued Puppies Ready For Adoption

 April 16th, 2017  |  10:47 AM  |   919 views

PETALING JAYA

Just over a month ago, canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) received news that a mother dog and her four puppies were in danger of being run over by heavy vehicles at the jetty where they had taken shelter in Port Klang.

When a volunteer went to the place to rescue the family, she found that one of the puppies had already been crushed to death.

The condition of the emaciated mother and her puppies were pitiful when the MDDB volunteer removed them from the jetty.

"The puppies and their mother are all okay now and the little ones are ready for adoption," said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

According to Lai, the three surviving puppies will be among the dozen puppies that will be up for adoption at the MDDB adoption drive Sunday at Jaya One, Section 13/6, Petaling Jaya from 11am to 6pm.

The puppies will be for viewing at the open space near the Block NB1 car park behind Old Town Coffee and Nandos.

“Our puppies love visitors. Please come and spend some time with them,’’ said Lai.

According to Lai, MDDB is also in the midst of setting-up a sanctuary near Rawang, and is in need of help in cash and kind.

She said the sanctuary was necessary due to the large number of dogs currently with the rescue group.

"We need roofing, tiles, bricks, paint and other building materials. We also welcome cash contributions as we need to pay the contractors building the place,’’ she said.

Lai said MDDB hoped to complete the sanctuary by June and move the dogs there in the same month.
