The cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao governments has contributed to taking bilateral relations to new heights, said Lao National Assembly Chairwoman, Ms Pany Yathotou.
She made the remark at a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on April 15.
The Lao leader wished Vietnamese leaders further success in the implementation of the 12th National Party Congress’ Resolution.
She appreciated Vietnam’s support for Laos’ development, particularly in allowing her country to use the local Vung Ang port in the central region – the nearest gateway to the sea.
For his part, Prime Minister Phuc stressed Vietnam’s commitment to boosting the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive partnership with Laos.
Regarding the Vietnamese-funded construction of the Lao National Assembly headquarters, which is set to begin in this July, Mr Phuc informed his guest that the work will be carried out by a reliable contractor from Vietnam.
He took the occasion to request the State Bank of Vietnam to assign the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and other banks to cooperate with the Lao side in establishing more credit sources serving joint investment projects between the two countries.
